Moisture on your TV? Time to take some immediate action

How to protect your TV from humidity this monsoon

The monsoon season is synonymous with scenic views, dark clouds, the sweet aroma of damp soil, and what we like to call long-drive weather. However, it is also the weather when your appliances at home need to deal with a rise humidity level. This, as we know, poses a risk to most electronics, including your televisions.

Excess humidity can lead to a range of problems, from weird lines on the screen, dark spots or even a dead TV. Since these problems are due to bad weather, even extended warranty plans like Croma’s ZipCare Protect plans will not be able to cover it. But that doesn’t have to mean your TV is doomed.

Fortunately, you can take steps to prevent this and the huge repair costs that come with a damaged TV. Read on to know about four ways to protect your TV this monsoon season.

1. TV placement

The simplest and among the most effective ways to avoid excess humidity around your TV is correct placement. Place your TV in a part of the house where it is airy and away from direct sunlight. Direct sunlight can evaporate water faster around your TV, resulting in even more humidity around it.

2. Get a waterproof case

If your TV needs to be placed near a window, a large balcony or outdoors, consider getting a waterproof case for the television. This will allow you to use the TV, and not worry about humidity and moisture. The case will also protect your TV when it is not in use.

3. Cover the TV when not in use

Something as simple as covering your TV when it is not being used is a good way to protect your TV. If you don’t have the right materials, use a blanket in a pinch. This will minimise the TV’s contact with the air around it and keep moisture at bay.

4. Control humidity in the room

Getting to the root of the problem is also a good way to keep your TV safe. To reduce the humidity in your living room, consider a dehumidifier or even have plants that absorb humidity around your TV or other appliances. An evaporative cooler will also help reduce the amount of water in the air around the TV. Also use exhaust fans and chimneys whenever you can in the house, as these can help get rid of moisture during activities like bathing or cooking.
